East Ellijay Baptist believes that music is an integral part of our worship of the true and living God. Specifically, we believe music is an opportunity to serve, a form of personal worship and meditation, an evangelistic outreach, part of the congregational worship experience, and a step in daily worship by living fully for Christ in all that we do. We believe music should be relevant to the world we live in, and should communicate Biblical truth in the songs we do, and lead our congregation in lifting up praise and worship to Jesus Christ, our Savior.

Our music is influenced by a long tradition at East Ellijay in a number of musical genres including southern gospel, classic hymns, and in contemporary praise and worship songs. On occasion, we are blessed with original songs from songwriters within our fellowship. Typically, our Sunday service at 11am is mostly contemporary in nature with the inclusion of some classic songs and hymns. Our early Sunday service at 8:30am is typically more intimate, and will include more of the classic songs and hymns.

Children's Music

Our children meet each Wednesday for our Kids 4 Christ children’s program. As part of Kids 4 Christ, the group is taught songs in praise and worship time. This group includes Pre-kindergarten through 5th Grade and meet during the school year from August through May. You can find out more about Kids 4 Christ by leaving a message for Mary Hensley with Anne at the church office.

Our children occasionally sing during the Sunday worship services. This group is led by Stacey Lanning and Heidi McKee, and is taught and rehearse on Sunday mornings at 11am as part of the Children’s Church component of Kids 4 Christ. Our children also do an annual musical and play during the Christmas season which is led by members of our Children’s ministry.

Student Music and Arts

For students in grades 6-12 we have our student arts program which includes youth praise and worship band, and dance.

Our youth band leads worship at Elevate student ministries on Wednesday nights. The youth band also leads worship at our Sunday 11:00 a.m. services on the Sunday of Disciple Now, and the Sunday after returning from summer camp. The band may also occasionally lead worship at other times. Auditions for the band are arranged through Pastor Eric, our student pastor.

Amy Sims leads a dance ensemble that performs with worship music on special occasions. You can express your interest in this to Amy through Anne at the church office.

Sanctuary Choir

The Sanctuary Choir ministers through two major productions annually – Christmas Praise, and Easter Praise.

The Choir also ministers periodically during Sunday worship services and has led worship at other churches in the community and through the local television station. Regular rehearsals resume a couple months prior to the Christmas and Easter productions, and at other times as announced. We invite new members to come and join us, (starting with 6^th grade and older).If you would like more information, including your interest in solos or small singing groups, please contact Joe via Anne at the church office.

Worship Music Team & the 8:30 Band

An auditioned group made up of members from the Sanctuary Choir, the Worship Music Team leads in the worship services each Sunday at 11:00 am. The Worship Music Team and 8:30 Band have also led worship at other events held at the church or in the community. Auditions may be held at various times as needed. Please inquire by calling Anne at the church office and leave a message for Joe.

Media Ministry

Our Media Team works as a support unit in several ways in the life of our church.

Each Sunday the Media Ministry strives to serve as a team in the areas of video recording, sound, and video projection. We are always looking for individuals who have interests in audio, camera operation, computer graphics, editing, and CD/DVD duplication. Please contact Joe via Anne at the church office if you would like to participate.

Music Worship Ministry Team

Our music, praise and worship ministry is led by Joe Hensley as Worship & Music Minister. Joe leads our Worship Music Team and band at our 11am Sunday service, teaches and directs our Sanctuary Choir, and works with other members of the music team as needed. Contact Joe via Anne at the church office if you would like to audition for the Worship Music Team, or if you would like to join our choir.

Eric Colson, Student Pastor, is a member of our Sunday Worship Music Team, teaches, and leads the Elevate Band with our middle and high school age children in praise and worship on Wednesday nights at our Elevate student ministry. He also leads special events from time to time as part of that ministry. If you would like to audition for the Elevate Band which is made up of students, contact Eric at the church.

East Ellijay is also blessed with a number of other talented musicians like Michael Cornett on Wednesday nights who help lead at various times and in other church and small group services.
